Distance Education for Staff

Distance Education (DE) provides the following support for staff and students:

Queries

The Distance Education office serves as a first point of contact for students and can answer administrative queries or direct them to the relevant area. In this way queries are filtered for the academic staff.

Assignments

Assignments submitted via Distance Education by post, email, fax or hand-delivered are recorded on Student One. When the assignments have been marked, Distance Education logs the marks and returns them to the students. In this way backup records are maintained. Please note that this does not include assignments submitted via the Online Assignment Manager in Blackboard.

OASIS

DE can assist students with logging into OASIS. If students experience problems DE can refer them to the relevant helpdesk.

Mid-Semester Tests

If a unit has a mid-semester test DE can organise this for the off campus students.

Going the Distance Booklet

All Distance Education students are sent the link to the Going the Distance Booklet on the website. This booklet provides information about studying externally. A copy may be accessed on the eLearn website.

Please note that the above applies to units offered in the Central External mode. Units offered in the Area External mode (with the exception of Open Universities Australia units) are handled by the school.
